To get to know Sophie a bit better we have asked her 8 questions.

  • Please tell us a bit about yourselves, where do you live and where is your practice?

My name is Dr Sophie Rumbelow. I’m a Chiropractor and own Atlas Chiropractic in Hampstead. I live in South London but will be moving at the end of the year to be closer to the practice.
  • Please tell is a little bit about your business. How did you get the idea for your business, what is your background?

My business is a specialised Chiropractic clinic. It is unique in the fact it is the only practice in the UK that offers specific upper cervical chiropractic care. This is a precise technique that works with optimising the function of nervous system and brain to body communication. I’ve wanted to be a Chiropractor since the age of 11. I graduated with a Masters in Chiropractic and further trained in Upper Cervical Chiropractic in the USA.
  • What is important to you when you are working so close with people/specific children

What’s really important to me is my clients nervous system is always functioning optimally. Our nervous system controls every single thing our body does. From our digestion, our immunity, cardiovascular, respiratory,  healing, cell regeneration, detoxing, brain function etc. It’s vitally important for our health and ensuring our body is working at it’s best potential that we have a fully functioning nervous system.
  • How do you balance both work and your private life?

I love what I do and do not see working in my practice as a job or ‘work’. However when i’m not in the practice, I love walking my dog- Ottie on the Heath and cooking for friends and loved ones at home. I absolutely love going to a market, buying yummy produce and cooking up a storm in the kitchen. My Dad is an amazing cook and has taught me everything I know!
  • What is your vision/dream for your business?

The business is growing rapidly and expanding by helping more and more people! We are hiring more staff to help with the running of the practice, which has been a dream that’s coming true a lot faster than I expected. The vision is to be immersed in the community and become the “go to” place to optimize your health and wellbeing.
  • What have been your biggest challenges so far and how did you overcome them?

My biggest challenge so far has been trusting in the process. It was really hard at the beginning when I found an empty space with no walls, ceilings or floor and trusting that in time it would all come together. When you’re on a time schedule, it can be really stressful when there’s a million things to do before you open your door to serve clients. But so far I’ve learnt with all hurdles I have faced… it always all works out in the end.
  • What do you love most about your job?

The thing I love the most is working with children in the practice who have special needs or learning difficulties. Challenges for a child such as Autism, ADHD, anxiety, learning difficulties can stem from a dysfunction within their nervous system. It’s incredible to watch the quality of life of a child and their family, dramatically change for the better, when their nervous system is working correctly.
  • When would you advise a parent to visit you for a consult for their child? Why should they take their child to see you?

I have seen children as young as one day old. A specific Chiropractic adjustment is very safe and gentle. It's particularly important from the ages of 0-7 as this is when their nervous system is forming most of the brains development, function and connections. If we can ensure that their body is growing and developing at the best possible rate then this gives them the best start in life. If you notice within your child that their sleep, concentration and focus, balance and coordination is poor, have their nervous system checked by a specific Chiropractor first.
